You Cannot Beat The Cost And Also The Sound - Custom Headphones Review

by Nathan Cox

It is not like the way other manufacturers design their earphone. I am able to hear the sound around me and yet without having the compromised sound quality.

I can live with that when watching TV, and it certainly is "same difference" when consuming audio-only sources. Brief dropouts can occur when my microwave oven is on and I happen to pass within 2' of it. The Sennheiser RS 180 is a solid performing unit thus far. It charges simply and easily.

So far I have gone a few rooms nearby. They are just crystal clear all the time. You will venture forth into a new world of audio pleasure. If the Sennheiser RS-180 was a painting it would be a masterpiece by Kandinsky or Dali; a sculpture, La Pieta via Michelangelo, a song, something by Lennon & McCartney. So, that's probably an unavoidable issue. However, all my complaints combined don't add up to the loss of a full star.

But, to be fair, there are a couple walls and partially a refrigerator between the headphones and the transmitter. I can listen to them upstairs, the signal going through the floor, no problem.

Virtual surround sound makes you feel like you're at the movies. You never have to worry about dead batteries, they come with rechargeable batteries & the base where you store your head phones is a recharging station.

And if you don't want to spend a fortune for 7.1 surround sound, this might be an excellent option. The only downside is they can get a little warm (would not exercise with them on, for instance). The product is fine, except for the select bottoms. They are hard to find, because they are even with the earpiece and one has to search for the right one. After shopping around for a new pair I finally decided to give the wireless a try. I really did not want to waste a bunch of money for a lesser model so I went all in with the RS 180's and I am truly amazed.

The sound starts breaking up at about 25 feet but because I am sitting maybe 10 feet from my big screen 99% of the time this is not a big deal. The thing I dislike most is the volume up/on-off/volume down button set on the underside of the right ear piece.

I can't vouch for the range though; I have little reason to prance around with these. But as for upstairs and downstairs in the same house, no worries with these headphones. Our 97 year old mother uses them to watch TV. The sound quality is much better than the 120's.
