Value Headphone For Semi-Serious Listening - Noise Cancelling Headphones Review Review

by Gabriella Barnes

Virtual surround sound makes you feel like you're at the movies. You never have to worry about dead batteries, they come with rechargeable batteries & the base where you store your head phones is a recharging station.

The phones are adjustable, hold their adjustment, and apply the perfect amount of pressure to create a soft "seal" without cutting off your circulation. It's an excellent, well-designed, quality product. I was excited about this alone, but I also learned that the volume controls are flat and therefore will not accidentally change as per my first point made above. Here's what I found about the 180's after one day of use.

I am very pleased with them and would recommend this model as they are updated and perfected to give the buyer a good quality for the $. The week I purchased them they were 50.00 less in price and I don't know how I lucked out, but I paid under 300.00. They do not dwell on the surround sound capability. But, I have found the surround sound to be incredible. I listen to music mostly, so wanted something that was highly rated for it. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the sound quality of these.

SACD were demoed both as 2-channel & Multi-channel. The initial impression with the RS 180's is their extreme musicality.

Unlike others I do get headaches from the cushions, which are positioned on the sides of the head center. Somehow these cushions seem to press on some nerves and after a few minutes I get headaches that emanate from these pressure points. This is one of those right at the top. Sound is SUPERIOR to my new 42 LED/LCD TV. The $50 pair the same company sells is nice, and great for a work headset, but this is great for watching your movies at home. After listening to these, the only reason you will not have a pair for work and home *might* be the price - love them. With a bit more smarts, the headphones could be made to standby in a low power mode, then ramp up when it detected a signal from the transmitter. Maybe that's too much to ask for the price.

Plus, I have had since initial release and still don't know what the ALC button does, I'm sure it is some gimmick. Worst of all, the thing flashes the power light all the time whether on or off. The surround sounds are incredible. It makes watching movies with outstanding sound tracks a real treat. Overall I am happy with the headphones performance. All of these are minor since I wanted quality, comfortable headphones. This is where the warm fuzzies of these headphones really paid off. In this casual close-mic setting I felt as if I was actually there & had to resist the urge several times to turn around & "see" the rest of the crowd.
